Cannot believe that a year has past and Skyler is turning ONE this month!
He still has his fair share of sleep problems but i would rather not focus on that as I know his sleeping issues are BEYOND HOPE.

What has he achieved so far..

1. Think he weighs about 9.5kg and carrying him is really getting very difficult
2. He likes pulling himself to stand inside his play yard (it's really useful!! I regret not getting it earlier)
3. He knows what is "arms up"!! all thanks to the "my baby can read" dvd.
4. He simply adores........ CATS.
5. He knows the sign language for "milk"
6. He knows the words "balloon", "icecream", "orange", and will point to me when i asked him to. (thanks to the Parklon Playmat)
7. He will clap whenever he wants and not when i asked him to. *hng*
8. He still loves kissing grandma but not mama. *hng*
9. When granny goes to kitchen and he sees no one around, he will scream and pat his chest.. like telling us that he's 怕怕
10. He loves to yak.. "mama mama, papa papa.."

Eating
1. He IS a milk addict.
2. I haven't been very adventurous with his food as i do not want him to taste our kind of salty food as he will get used to it. But I can see that he is getting very tired of his tasteless porridge! Have tried Bao, Bread (he loves bread), shredded mozzarella cheese, and just bought some food from Petit Bowl to try.
3. There's alot of things he hates though. He hates TOMATOES, one thing for sure cos I tried numerous times to give him pasta as well as chicken tomato rice, he absolutely hate it cos he will have this "want to vomit" face with every mouthful I give him. hahah

Seriously considering one.. I can't keep chasing him around the house.
Especially when i put him down on the mattress on the floor, he wants to crawl out of it. But i seriously doubt he will let me confine him hahaha

But i dont mind sitting inside together with him.

Skyler can crawl very well now and is trying to stand up. He LOVES praising and always looks to us when he felt he did something "great", like standing up without support haha.

Skyler's birthday is approaching too!
How Time FLIES! The lil guy is turning 1 soon! and preparations are underway. It will be a 2 in 1. Birthday cum House warming!

I need decorations, cake and the buffet!So these are the things I will try to settle soon.

He still has some sleep problems but I tried EVERYTHING, including setting a routine of massage every night.

NO HE DOESNT WANT TO BE MASSAGED. HE WANTS TO CRAWL OUT OF THE BEDROOM!

So the experts are not always right and not every technique will apply to the babies. They talked about consistency and routines. So nap times must be consistent which means i have to stay home all day...

for a record breaking 9 hrs and 15 mins WITHOUT milk yesterday!!!

a miracle....LOL

he must be super tired that he conked out after milk at 11pm and slept till the next morning 8 plus.

He started crawling a few weeks back but he started to get the hang of it a few days ago. Maybe he is really tired with all the crawling on fours..

I hope this lasts...

Blogging is almost out of my life already as TIME IS ALWATS NOT ENOUGH!

My blog posts have been reduced to all words and no pictures as Mummy is so lazy to upload! Took alot of pics during CNY but really abit lazy to upload when i'm online.

The little one is sleeping now and this gives me some time to do shopping online! That's the only thing why i log on these days.. hee

He's crawling already and last week, he managed to sit up on his own!

After achieving that milestone, he seems very pleased with himself and keeps repeating is again and again.

1. Go on all fours
2. Lie on Tummy
3. Try to sit up

Even when it's bedtime... he must be so fascinated that he is finally in CONTROL of his movement and no longer need to rely on mummy to sit up!

Okay... i should be back to my online shopping in case he wakes up again.. All his naps are not over 1 hour.

Skyler turned 8 month!

He is doing well and today is his 2nd day of sleep training.

When most babies are sleeping through the night, he is still waking up every 4 plus hours, which we don't really know why. One possible reason is that he is just too used to being rock to sleep, and so when there is no motion, he will wake up. And so finally decided to let him sleep on his own at night.

The 1st night was not so good, he kept fussing when we didn't want to carry him to sleep in our arms. But when I talked to him and told him that he is a big boy now and has to sleep on his own, he looked at me for a while and stopped fussing. Instead, he rolled here and there on the bed trying to sleep. It took him quite a while to sleep but we persevered as we were really tired of all those sleep deprived nights!

It's been 8 months!!

Okay will update again on his sleep training portion. hee

and life for me is as busy as ever, especially work.

Skyler still cant really sleep well at night, always wake up after 4-5 hours at night.
Why cant he seem to sleep through like other babies...

Maybe I shouldnt complain too much, what's important is he is healthy!

when you have a kid..
and everyday is a new start for new things!

Skyler is 8.5kg now at 7 months!
When he was 5 kg (weighed like a bag of rice), I thought that i wont be able to carry him if he is heavier but strangely enough, he is 8.5kg now and I still can carry him with ease (for like 30 mins max lah) hahahha.

I have been MIA for quite some time, so what's up lately..

- Skyler can sit upright! I guess soon he will be crawling around the house
- He can put his feet into his mouth =___= which i dont know who taught him that, obviously NOT ME
- He understands simple instructions!!! like (坐下，嘴巴开）... he will follow after we said that
- He's starting to like fruits. Initially he doesnt like banana, apple or papaya. But now he loves them! so fickle-minded~
- He started on porridge! Mummy hasnt tried cooking for him before cos granny did all the cooking. hee
- He's going to get his passport and go for his 1st road trip soon!!

brought him to swimming at Hwa Xia International where they charge really high for babies to swim for 30 mins.

Mummy enjoy seeing him kicking around in water.

Such a pity that mummy accidentally deleted ALL the photos in the memory card!!!

Yes!

Finally after 5 months plus of milk only, skyler is introduced to OTHER kinds of food.

and HE LOVES IT!

I have been holding back in introducing semi solid food to him cos of PD's recommendation and due to his cough as well. So after last week's vaccination, PD gave the green light to start on the semi solids!

Was not at home today to witness how gan chiong he is when grandma fed him this afternoon.

So looking forward to this weekend cos i will be able to feed him myself!

He did a mini push up today!

He didnt just lie lazily on his tummy, but he pushed himself up to take a good look at the pictures on the play mat =) hee

Mummy realizes that he loves using his feet. He likes to "giap" the ball between his feet leaving his hands free for him to suckle.

Just bought a play mat for him and he loves it!

Regretted not buying earlier.. anyway it's really useful for babies to develop their motor skills.

The next item on the list is and EXERSAUCER! Something that spins and bounce with babies every movement. But I guess Mummy only can afford to rent it so I will be renting it from December onwards.

Everyday is a new experience for him and me!...

1. He loves looking and smiling at the mirror (very hiao like his mummy!)
2. He can flip without any assistance
3. He stares at us eating our food

Babies are so amazing. Once they learn a new trick or stunt, they just keep doing it!
Yes he has been flipping alot (from his back to tummy..). During diaper changes, bathing, just give him a flat surface then he will show his new stunt to you hahah!

Just bought discounted Robinsons vouchers and will get him some toys to play. Playing is a huge part of baby's development. Want to rent the exersaucer as well, it seems pretty fun, maybe when he's 7 months old.. hur hur.

But he isnt very well this days. Not drinking and sleeping well either.
Must be the cough and cold he is having now.. haizz

Hurray!

Finally can have some rest time =)
and went to Orchard Central for some shopping yesterday. It's my first time there! can you imagine, so sua gu...bought quite a number of things too over the weekend too.

We finally bought the BUMBO seat. It is lime green!

but he still prefers his good old rocker

Bought a toy car at Robinsons too. I thought it's pretty cute. He seems to adore this as he watches it zoom towards him.

Bought another set of infant pillows so that we don't need to lug so many things to our new house. It's machiam house moving every weekend. We brought his clothes, pillows, rockers toys over to make him feel "at home"

Busy Bee Part II

What are we busy with?

Moving house!

Tidying up every weekend, bringing stuff over and decorating the nursery.
And of course buying things online for Baby Skyler.

He wore something new yesterday too. A sailor romper that i bought online! love it so much lo! got it from taobao and cost about $7 including shipping.
but baby doesn't seem to like taking pics with mummy! =(

okay.. the bandanna doesn't really match the romper

So we moved yesterday! It was really tiring, didnt take any pictures of the process but my mother in law prepared oranges to throw into our house as it symbolises 黄金满地. Me and Darren had fun doing that! We took alot of pictures.. but none had me and darren in it. Every single picture is baby skyler.

Smiley SKYLER! really had a hard time making him laugh. We got these few precious pics cos we started to jump around like a rabbit. Really a good workout

Had our meal there and stayed overnight.

It was our first night there with the baby. It was pretty horrible cos he was very cranky as he couldnt get used to it. It really pains me seeing him so scared and screaming his lungs out.

Held him close to my chest and reassured him. It was really traumatizing, for him and for me. He never cried so so hard before.After 30 mins of howling, he finally settled and slept till 5am the next morning. He slept well through the night but it was me and Darren who couldnt sleep!

Now it's our turn...

We couldn't get use to the new bed and pillows!!

So 2 big or bak kak and 1 swollen-eye baby decided to move back to granny's house on Sunday.

In a few days time, our Skyler will be 4 months old!

Time really flies and it's been exactly 1 month since i went back to work.
Work has been super busy, alot of projects to complete at a urgent time frame. And now i'm still clearing my maternity leave and working only 4 days in a week so time is never enough!

I think 4 months is a pretty fun age to play with as Skyler is smiling and laughing more now and it really brightens up my day hearing his laughter. And maybe it's becos he loves playing, now he don't poo everyday! Every 2-3 days he will poo once.

AND... WE ARE MOVING TO TAMPINES IN 2 WEEKS TIME!

FINALLY, you must say.

Our new house is empty since Feb this year and most of the people have already move in. Looking forward to move in but i know i will be super busy during the weekends as there will not be anyone helping me to take care of Skyler.

I'm back blogging!

After recovering from fever, I have been busy with 3 things.

Skyler, Work and Shopping!

Skyler has been well, he hasn't slept longer than 5 hours at night but it's enough for me! He sort of have a routine now.

9~10pm : Bedtime
3am : Milk Feeding
6~7am : Wake up for more Milk

So during his naps and all, i will shop! ONLINE! i can't seem to find nice clothes outside. If I can find something that suits me, it's just too expensive

And recently.. i have been shopping some new sites..

which is G Market Korea and Taobao!

Bought 2 dresses from Gmarket and i must say the quality is very good! Both are Made in Korea. Of course the price is steeper as well about 50 bucks per dress.

waiting for my taobao buys.. hope that the quality will be just as good!

Havnt been posting much cos was down with fever.

not H1N1, mind you.. i guess it's the inflammation of breasts that made me sick. Had fever for 2 days and one of my boob is so pain! Never was i so sick before. The longer stretched hours of not pumping after returning to work may be the root cause. Haiz.. so decided that after i recover, i shall stop breast feeding..

It's such a pity, i thought i would be able to pump and feed him for another month before i stop. Seems like it's not possible.

My mum said that I wont be able to take care of Skyler if I cant even take care of my own health and she's right..

Went to KK hospital yesterday to check on my problem since i had fever which did not subside for 2 days. The doctor asked the lactation nurse to massage my boob for me and BOY! it was freaking pain! Guess they have to clear the ducts in order for the boob to recover.

hope it doesnt come back again!

Back to Work Tomorrow!

11 weeks of maternity leave, 4 days of childcare leave ending officially today.
It's back to work and reality tomorrow!

Later will have to clean up my bags and schedule my pumping sessions(4am, 8.30am, 2pm, 6.30pm, 10pm).
Hopefully i will be able to breastfeed 1 more month!

And he laughs too when I sing and smile at him in the morning. I have been like talking in baby language or sing in a high pitch tone until my sis ask me to "control myself" hahahah

Think I will miss his pouts and smiles when i go back to work. =(

Okay, this is the day when Mummy turns 30! Mummy was once a little baby like you too.
Ordered cupcakes over last weekend to celebrate! Not really a celebration but Mummy adores cupcakes so ordered from Juzmycakes.

The cupcakes are super delicious! especially the chocolate chip ones and i love the cream cheeze frosting. Cannot get enough of them. My whole family commented that it's good. and guess what, i ate most of the cuppies cos they know I love them. Out of 16 cuppies, I ate about hmmmm 11. wahhahahah =p I need those calories HORKAY

Went out for a simple dinner at Dian Xiao Er and more shopping for Skyler.
Bought a latex infant pillow and a sarong (FINALLY CAVED IN), cannot tahan the constant carrying liao. Very siong!

Time flies when you have a kid

OH my gawd, suddenly all my spree stuff came.

So happy!

California Baby Cream, His personalised Bhubu Tee, and his socks are on the way too!
I think my spree stuff is coming soon as well from Zen's Spree. Really looking forward, i have no more clothes to wear to work and I'm starting work in 2.5 weeks time! Gosh.. time flies.

Soon, i will be an old lady attending my son's graduation ceremony or even his wedding ceremony.

Anyway, yesterday Mummy went back to work for some discussion as i haven't been working for a whopping 5 months. Initially wanted to go back 1/2 a day but end up it was a full day at work! Discussions, reports etc...

I must say working is much much easier than taking care of a baby. At least I know what my boss wants! haha sometimes it's difficult to read baby's cues, whether he's feeling uncomfy, or want a hug, or his diapers are wet, so usually will have to try everything to settle him down if he is cranky. I still have energy at the end of the day after working, but if I stayed at home to take care of Skyler, i will be so tired at the end of the day. Missed him quite badly at work, and kept thinking about him..think after i go back to work, he will forget me soon since he wont see me for the whole day :(

We have been trying ways and means to make Skyler sleep longer whether in the day or night. He's quite a light sleeper and wants to be carried at all times. Trying not to give in to sarong as we are afraid that he may be so used to it that he wont sleep without it. It will be a headache if it happens.

We bought a rocker from Fisher Price for him and clever granny DIY-ed a head cushion using 2 diapers to make him feel like he is sitting in the car seat. =__=
He seems to like sleeping in it hee hee

From waking up every 2 hours for milk feed, to 3 hours.. now Skyler sometimes can sleep up to 5 1/2 hours at night for his feed. yay! Finally Mummy can have some decent sleep once in a while. =D

2 months old!

Each day pass with lighting speed and now Skyler is 2 months old!

And another 3 weeks time, Mummy will be back to work! There's alot of things waiting for Mummy to do as Mummy has MIA-ed from work since end March. Pumping of BM will still continue if I have the energy but will stretch a little longer.

Went for 2nd dose of Hep B vaccination yesterday. PD said Skyler is above average and feeding well so the reflux and colic is not that serious. yay! and I think he's slightly overweight as the average is 4kg and he is 5!

Mummy went for Pap Smear as well. Mummy's weight dropped another 2 kg again!
Haiz. And gynae asked me what happened? what's wrong? cos my weight is 45kg now and it's lower than my pre pregnancy weight. Nothing is wrong actually, i have been eating well, just a little tired. Hope all the weight will come back after i stop breast feeding.

Have been shopping alot these days.

Bought a Skip Hop Diaper Bag.
It's great! Organize diapers, bottles and stuff into different pockets. Attach to the stroller and Mummy can shop MORE. wahah

Bought a Pupsik Pouch size S. Size M was a little too big for me, but size S is alright, but he looks very cramp inside, wonder whether it's too small for him?

Bought cute socks to keep his happy feet warm!

Bought alot of clothes online! for myself.. not Skyler's. Darren forbids me in wearing short skirts so this time round, I bought alot of skirt-like shorts. I need a wardrobe revamp! hur hur

Finally caught him smiling on camera.

From all the pics I have of him, there's only 2 pics of him smiling.

It's so difficult to catch his smile!

When he's smiles, (usually in the early morning when he had a good night's sleep and full with milk) my camera is not in sight. And when my camera is in hand, he will just move alot and the picture will turn out very blur.

Although he doesnt smile much, it still brightens up my day.

He's growing out of his clothes real fast and I have stopped buying clothes for him. Think he has enough to last till 6 months old. And everything is brand new! Most of it are from Ah Yi's company who exports Old Navy so we get it free! yay! Many from friends and a few I bought over the Internet as well.

Any mummies out there interested in Brand New Old Navy rompers or 2 piece sets for about SGD$12? All brand new and will post up pictures soon!

He drinks about 100ml to 120ml every 2.5 to 3 hourly, be it BM or FM.
His eyes follow PoPo around the room and responds to her calls. When I call him, he bo chup me =__=

These 2 days he has been really cranky, I guess there's alot of wind in his tummy and he looks so uncomfy and always screams in pain :(

Skyler turned 1 month old officially on 22nd June and we distributed cakes to our colleagues on that day as well.

Skyler turns 1 month on 22nd June 09.

We didnt invite our friends over but a small celebration among our immediate family members only. Once with Mil side and another with my own family.

We shaved off his hair, not completely though just shaved a little shorter as his hair was getting too long.

Okay.. not exactly new born as we took them when Skyler was one month old. Actually intended to take last weekend when he's 3 weeks old but Kelly was fully booked. She's popular! so have to reschedule.

Kelly is really young!! and a very patient gal with babies. I thought Kelly should be a loving mother with at least 2 kids but i was so wrong! She's not married, no kids, VERY very young and very good with babies! I almost got fedup by Skyler cause he refused to sleep but Kelly was patiently waiting and patting him. Although in the end, he didnt really sleep but I hope we will have some good shots.

Thanks Kelly! you guys rock!

Awaiting the photos... will take him to a studio photography when he can sit and crawl, i guess it will be interesting.

Really spoiling him nuts. I've been spending alot of money to get him nice stuff.. want to curb my spending oso cannot.. Now whenever I buy things for myself, I think twice, or even 3 times. But for him.. NO need to think lah! just buy lah! hahaha

Oh ya, Skyler's rashes has almost recovered! I think most likely is heat rash as it got better cos this 2 days, we switched on the aircon (just for him) for almost the whole day. HO MIA hor.. YOU! better be grateful and not naughty hor, mama oso no aircon when she's a little fella like you!

It's actually my EDD today and coincidentally it's Skyler's First month too according to the chinese lunar calender.

So fast! it's already almost 1 month!

Really missed the days of pregnancy and doing kick counting. Miss his little kicks in the tummy. Not the bed-resting days though, it was terrible, constantly worrying about the lil fella inside. He's still kicking me now, but a different kind, trashing his legs around when he's super hungry. ha!

We did not have any first month celebration for him as it's quite troublesome and with the lack of sleep for everybody, we are just trying to maintain our sanity here. With the first month celebration, guess everybody will go crazy! hahaha

3 Weeks old!

You are 3 weeks old! ^^

Was pretty upset these days as bb got quite colicky and grandma kept insisting that it's my breast milk that is causing him discomfort. But everybody froze their BM wan wat.. the older generation don't freeze BM and say that maybe it's becos it's frozen then he has wind in his tum tum. I followed instructions to thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and before giving it to him, we warm it up in a bottle warmer.. But maybe it's becos something i ate, that went into the BM? not sure oso.. haizz

Then he got this rash on his face too.. wonder whether it's heat rash or milk rash??
Mum said it's caused by my Breast Milk too!! Gawd! everything blame my BM~ so drink formula is best?

Anyway, it was pretty upsetting as I have been regularly pumping out even waking up in the wee hours to pump just to hear people saying my BM is giving my son TUMMY ACHE & RASHES.. making me sometimes wonder.. maybe really there's something wrong with my BM.. haiz

So today put him on formula milk most of the day and guess what, he didn't poo at all! Usually he will poo about 4 times a day. But he poo-ed after I gave him some EBM! yay!! and after that he slept well and not fussing around ler.

I changed most of his teats from Avent to either NUK, Medela or Pigeon. I realized NUK and Pigeon are pretty slow flow which is good for him as he will suck more and not just swallow the milk with Avent teats.

He can latch on now as well! and not so impatient as he used to be.. so that's something to be happy about.

He's always opening his mouth, finding things to suckle.. today we gave him the pacifier cos he was really fussy and refused to sleep and i couldnt offer him my nipple all the time right.. haha

Finally went to do the birth certificate yesterday.
We took so long cos we were thinking of his chinese name.

MIL brought Darren to a Baby Name Master. He gave us a few names to choose from but we didnt see anything that we fancy as it was erhem.... abit strange.

There are combinations like the following :

颜大根 (GAN DUA KEE)???? this is the FUNNIEST combi lor! we had a great luff over this. will be so cursed by skyler if we used this.

颜千根 So not just BIG, must have ALOT more 根 oso =__=

颜于刚 (Fish tank)??

颜于家 (Yoga)??

I was thinking hey 颜于祖 is quite nice! but Darren who is the MASTER-OF-GIVING-PEOPLE-NICKNAMES say..颜于祖??? read backwards and see...煮鱼圆？？ gawd... this one oso cannot.

And so we decide to approach another Master who is Dias's MIL. I ever went to her for 紫薇斗数 and it was pretty accurate. She gave slightly nicer names like

1. Yan Jia Cheng (sounds like the HK billionaire Li Jia Chen muhahha)

2. Yan Yong Jun (sounds like the Korea actor Pei Yong Jun muhahah)

3. Yan Wei Jing (i kinda like this name too)

4. Yan Xuan Ming etc... and so on

In the end, I asked Daddy to make the decision and he decided to call you...

Really pumping my life out for this little Skyler. Bought the stuff below to increase my milk supply as it is not fantastic.

Got myself a new breast pump as the one i bought didnt work too good for me.
This is the LV of breast pumps can... doubled my yield in a shorter time too. Coupled with the fenugreek supplements, i believe my milk supply will increase soon. It has been increasing steadily these days. I need more sleep and rest though.

Just finished my 1st post natal massage.

It's been such a long time since I did such pampering. Was quite pain when she pressed the uterus area but it's for my own good to expel the blood inside. There will be another session tmr! Hopefully the clogged blood clears up.

She mentioned that i have very little water retention and i'm very thin and asked me whether i eat enough during pregnancy. I ate alot ler leh.. seirously..She didn't even have a wrap that is of my size. =__= haizz

Pre-pregnancy weight : 47 kg
Weight before birth of Skyler : 54.5kg
Weight now : 50 kg

Too thin is no good yo.. have to beef up my weight and rest more so that milk supply gets better. After the post natal massage, i realized that my milk flow got better! yay! hopefully it will increase as the days go by. Started Fenugreek today and will take 3 capsules per day although the GNC staff mentioned that we can take up to 6. But it seems like abit over-kill, will gradually increase intake if milk supply is stil low.

Getting pretty used to waking up 2-3 hours for his feed. Time hasnt been enough as he's not on total breastfeeding as my milk supply is low. So it will be expressed Breast Milk and Bottle Feed PLUS pumping before I go back to bed again.

Okay got to go and get a better and more efficient pump and a nice good hair wash!

Okay nutting very fantastic but it makes cleaning easier..

Mummy has been quite sleep deprived as Mummy is quite a light sleeper so when you shift or just moan , Mummy will wake up and take a look at you.

Don't have much milk yet but Mummy will try my best to give you whatever I have okay? Mummy bought Fenugreek, nursing tea, Grandma made papaya fish soup so even if the milk supply is little, it's better than nothing yah! hee hee

Have been a naughty Mummy this week, been out of the house 2 times. 1st time was to the hospital review and some shopping of nursing bras and 2nd time was to get a nice stroller for you. Alot of things were not done before you popped cause Mummy was lying on the bed most of the time. Hope it wont affect my body somehow. Will try to rest more de.

My Birth Story

Finally had time to log on cos Skyler is hospitalized again.

HAIZ..

His jaundice level didnt come down and has to be under phototherapy. So poor thing, keep crying when his feet is spricked. Really heart pain. Hopefully he will be able to discharge tomorrow!

Okay time to share my birth story

21/5 - 10pm Originally was supposed to induce on 22nd morning but everybody in the family insisted i checked myself in one night earlier to monitor bb's heartbeat after hearing what Dr Chan has said. Contractions 8 mins apart

VE done by nurse is uber painful, dig dig dig, like dig tunnel like dat. Dilation is at 3cm

12am Requested for Epi recommended by nurse. She say if you dont take now, later 2am you pain, no anesthetist want to come, i dont know ar.. so I took =__=. I was holding on to the nurse hand so tightly as I heard that it was really really painful as the needle is long and and it's injected into the spine.

But surprisingly, i only felt abit "suan" for 2 seconds, I even thought the nurse was bluffing me that it's done. BUT it's really done! Guess i'm those lucky few. Didn't suffer from the side effects from Epi either (vomit or shiver), really really lucky.

22/5 - 8am Gynae came to induce to hasten delivery. Cannot feel anything due to Epi.

11am 5 cm dilated. FELT PAIN =____=
even though i was on EPI on highest dosage. But I think if I didnt take EPI, the pain may be 100 times more. Gynae say the head is pushing down and my pelvic is narrow so maybe that's the reason why i can feel the pressure.

12pm 9.5cm dilated. Practice pushing. The head seems to be on the way out but the pain stops when they open and prop up my legs to prepare for delivery. Feels like da bian feeling.

12.20pm Gynae came with all the scissors and active pushing starts.. Not much progress, 10 mins later, gynae asked 2 midwives to push my tummy to aid the bb's way out. They really dont give face, and push hard, think all my intestines are all jumbled up.

12.53pm Finally after much pushing, with the help of midwives and the episiotomy cut, Skyler came out!

Week 35 Day 5 visit

Have been getting contractions lately but it was not intense so did not check into labour ward.

Today went to Dr Chan's clinic and she was shocked to see that my contractions quite close although I was still telling her that it's quite painless. Dr Chan still joked that maybe I'm already immune to the contractions.

yah right...

Anyway, she said that you didnt grow. Your weight remains the same at about 2.3kg since 2 weeks ago and the placenta show signs of aging (white spots) and amiotic fluid is below average (like 50) =(

Initially was so excited at the thought of seeing you tmr but a search online abt low amniotic fluid really made Mama so worried. Haizz.. online information sometimes really very scary.
Just pray and hope you will be fine.

Dr Chan asked me to check in hospital tomorrow to be induced to be on the safe side, and if I have contractions tonight, admit IMMEDIATELY

Skyler, you must jia you okay! Mama and Papa love you and you must stay healthy and strong for us!

Weekly visit

Just went for checkup yesterday. It's a pity that Papa couldn't join us as he has too much work to do!

Now my visits are weekly visits and the next one will be on Next Thursday.
My last visit was only 5 days away and I now weigh 54kg!
yay! I put on almost 1kg in 5 days! I bet some of it must have gone to you.

You are doing well and you were playing with your face and ears and shaking your head when Dr Chan is scanning you.

Dr Chan says you are a naughty boy! always scaring people, making people so anxious that you may come out early. She is going to spank your bottom when you come out hur hur hur

She didn't measure your weight but from the scan, Mummy can see your slightly chubbier cheeks. Hopefully next week, we get to see them too =D

Okay going to take a nap now, so tired after your continuous kicking from 1am to 3am this morning.

The stuff I ordered online for Skyler.

California BB cream finally arrived! Heard quite a number of good reviews online but was surprised that the bottle is pretty small. I tried some on my hand and my skin turned baby smooth and the fragrance is so nice!!!

I'm very tempted to use it on my face... wahhaha

Breast Pump

Ordered one online but not collected yet. Brand new sealed in box at 100 dollars. Hopefully I will have enough milk for Skyler.

Still need to get one nursing bra online...

Checkup tomorrow again. Now i'm dilated 1.5cm, Dr Chan wants me to go on weekly visits for Vaginal Examination..

Hope it doesnt dilate further.
36 or 37 weeks will be good.

Skyler be good boy okay? Don't rush to be no. 1 in June's thread hor.. most importantly stay healthy and comfy inside hahahah

Week 34 visit

Mummy didnt gain any weight.

Weight remains at 53.10

You weigh 2.3kg

But Mummy is already dilated 1.5cm! Okay i'm starting to get the jitters of labour.. Starting to feel crampy, starting to feel a tearing pain below when I walk to the toilet. The bracton hicks contractions are getting more frequent too. Was still trying to target Week 37 as it will be the safest time for you to come out since it's full term but Dr Chan thinks it could be next week =(

Frankly speaking, i'm scared and worried of the uncertainties...worried whether you will do fine, worried about your health and scared of pain..

But after thinking about it, there is nothing to be scared of. You have done well since you hanged on to mama from week 27 till now, it's 7 weeks already! Although having a full term baby is every mother's wish, i think you will do fine as well even if you decide to come out next week.

In the meantime, please get fatter dear!

Someone who understands...

Finally found someone from the forum that understands what I am experiencing! She had the same symptoms, experienced the same things that I am experiencing now.

At least there's someone to talk to and ask for advice. and I don't feel like a freak being the odd one out. I have colleagues who were on bed rest, but they had a cerclage done before bed resting but I didn't, so their case is not really the same as mine. But this lady I met online understands perfectly.

She had a short cervix, 20mm like mine
She had regular contractions too even medication couldnt stop them.
She was on bedrest from week 27 or so onwards
Her gynae told her that she has an irritable uterus

The good news is, she managed to carry to full term 40 weeks and had to be induced. =) Hearing her success story makes me even more positive to carry to full term.

After talking to her, she said she ever experience contractions at 5 mins intervals! (i'm actually having 8-15 mins contractions for 3 hours for the past week). Every week she tells her hubby it's time.. and yet she carried till 40 weeks! with minimal walking. yay!

Hopefully it happens to me too! 37 weeks is good enough, that is my target.

Had some cramps over the weekend and the pain scared the hell out of me.
It's quite pain nor.. and i have friends who told me that labour pains are 1000 times more painful than menses cramps. The thought of it makes me shudder...

Will I faint from the pain?
Will I be able to make it?
Will I scream all the vulgarities that I can think of in the labour ward?

Anyway, I have decided that I will take HAPPY-DURAL

32 weeks 2 days!

So glad that I have reached 32 weeks!

cause initially Gynae feel that I may not hold till then. And after 32 weeks, the survival rate of babies are very very much higher.

Thanks baby, for holding on to mama, you still have a few more weeks to go so hang on tight till end of May!

Have been feeling contractions (again!?!?) these 2 days. Sometimes as frequent as 6 in a hour. I reckon my uterus is those ultra irritable and senstive type which my gynae oso mentioned before and a search online reveals that there are a group of people who suffers from IRRITABLE UTERUS.

Okay.. I have heard of Irritable Bowel syndrome but what is IU (Irritable Uterus)?

When the uterus is contracting, but not causing a change in the cervix, it is
known as irritable uterus. The contractions are generally irregular and occur
before the due date. Irritable uterus can cause contractions to strengthen and
organize, leading to preterm labor, so any contracting of the uterus before 37
weeks should be monitored closely.
There are many causes of irritable
uterus:
Dehydration
Urinary infection
Vaginal infection
Muliples
Stress

Coupled with a shorter than normal cervix, it's even more dangerous.

But i'm so glad that I have made this far, and I gained weight too. YOOHOO!
The durians indeed helped.

Mama weigh 53.1kg, a 6kg gain from pre pregnancy weight. I need to put on more.
BB weigh 1960g, quite a good jump from 14xxg compared to the last visit.

Keep up the good work Skyler and make yourself chubby chubby!

Week 31

Today is Week 31 day 2.
Mummy is resting well at home, lying down most of the time, sitting up only when I bathe or eat. There are good days and bad days.

Good days are days when there's only few contractions.

Bad days are days when there's cramp and contractions that made mama very worried and uncomfy.

There are days too when you seem very quiet, very little movement but there are also days that you practically kicked every hour. Must ask Dr Chan next time round. Whenever you are too quiet, mama will try to shake you and wake you up, but papa always scold me say why i go and disturb you when you sleep whahhahha! Like i always disturb papa when he sleeps. Maybe mama too paranoid ler.

But I have learnt to take things easier now, i know you will stay strong and hang on inside mama de until you are safe to come out and meet the world!

Yesterday Mama secretly took a photo of Papa when he's still snoring.. I think you look like papa alot! ahhahaha

Week 30

Mama weighed 51.7kg.
Just an increase of 0.5 kg, wondering whether there is something wrong with the weighing machine at the clinic.

You weighed 1463g.
Slightly underweight so hope you catch up soon. More durian feast coming soon!

It's bedrest day 30! Time seems to pass very fast day by day and after week 32, mama will start on your scrapbooking!

The weather is getting hotter and hotter, how i wish i can immerse myself into cold water all day.

Dr Chan's appointment will be 2 weeks later and I think Papa will take leave to see you. hee Looking forward to the visit

We wanted something unique and cool and yet easy to remember.

Actually wanted to call you Jayden as we really like the name but ended up decided against it cause Dr Chan told us that she has already delivered 3 Jaydens and all are naughty boys

I dont think you will be any much obedient with other names but we decided to go for others. So the search was extended to online website like babynames.com.

He wants to call you SYLAR.

Okay Sylar is a character out of HEROES series but he's a psychopatic killer lo! He's cool lah seriously..But No No... I objected.

When I saw from a book about the name Skyler, I was elated, i knew daddy will love this name too cause it's unique. And the meaning of Skyler is SCHOLAR(but seriously Skyler sounds like a naughty boy too)

And so that is how you got your name hee

Hospitalized =(

mama was hospitalized on the 17th. =(

cos cervix was too short (2cm, normal is 4cm) and i experienced contractions. Dr chan was scared that you will come too early as you were only a 26 weeker bb then.

mama was on CRIB, (which i later found out that it stands for "Complete Rest In Bed", which just literary translates to eating in bed, pang sai and pang jio in bed that kind of thing) for 3 weeks in hospital! but everything will be worth the effort, as it is for YOU, my darling.

My hospital bill came up to about 10k but it's okay, money can be earned back, what is important is your health. Just remember that papa and mama love you lots lots!

You have to be strong and not come out so soon okay?
Mama and Papa and everybody love you so so much and we all believe that you will grow well and fat inside mama.

Mama still have to bed rest at home for the rest of the pregnancy and i hope you will only come out in June okay?

That Faithful Day 17th March 09

It was a day that I will never forget.

I experienced tummy tightening and contractions for about 3 days and it has been at the back of my mind. I even noticed a decrease of bb movement compared to the previous week. But Dr Chan's appointment is the following Saturday and I was discussing with Darren whether I should go down earlier to check just to have a peace of mind.

I decided to go ahead cause the contractions are bothering me.

Dr Chan put me on CTG for 20 mins but discovered no contractions and asked me what did I feel? But upon examining my cervix, she actually was shocked to see that my cervix is only 2 cm when normal length is about 4-5cm.

Then next moment, everything happened so fast that it was a blur. Dr Chan quickly asked the nurse to bring in a wheelchair, and gave me my first steriod shot to boost bb's lungs if he is born now

THAT WAS THE MOST FREAKING PAINFUL SHOT EVER....I SWEAR.

It's oil based so the most painful part is when the liquid flows through your veins. And what's best was, that I need to take another shot of this thing 24 hours later. =(

I seriously panicked as IT IS TOO EARLY FOR THE BB TO COME OUT NOW! at 26 weeks! While seated on the wheelchair, I quickly called Darren and tell him to rush down.

Then next thing I was wheeled in Labour Ward for Observation. They put me on a drip to stop the contractions and on CTG for monitoring the whole night. And I was really having contractions but not very regular.

The ventolin drip made my tummy very soft and the contractions eventually stopped the next morning. I was warded into 4 bedder next morning after receiving the 2nd part of that steriod shot, constantly saying to myself "It's not pain, not pain, it's all in my mind"

Didnt work at all =__=

Dr Chan wants to keep me on strict bedrest (CRIB) for 3 weeks to observe.

I am officially our wawa's human incubator.

A few days later, contractions and pain came back and I notified the nurse, they wheeled me to Labour ward again.

I really dreaded going there.

I tried to keep myself calm as I realized, the more I panic, the contractions grew stronger. After observation using the CTG, Dr Chan commented that I have a very irritable uterus and maybe that is why I am having a constant tightening feeling. The nurses also asked me to slow down my movement whenever I turned on the bed as this could trigger off contractions too.

And I stayed on the bed without much activity from 17th March 09 to 6th April 09 spending 21 days in hospital. I would like to thank the following people who were there when I needed them most.

- Darren. Thanks for rushing to the hospital and staying with me till the nurses chase you back everyday, for bringing my favourite food, wiping my body when I couldnt bathe and thanks for loving me so much! I love you and wawa so so much too!

- My mum and dad for visiting me at least 2 times a day and bringing all my supplies and clothings to make my 3 week stay in Thomson comfortable and not so lonely

- Alina. Thanks for sharing tips with me about bedrest and your success story makes me more motivated to carry on! Thanks!

- Friends! Xin, Dias, Gerald and SFC peeps, Liren, Josephine and Qiu Ling for the time spent visiting me. *waves*. Thanks for the support and encouragement that you have given us during this trying period.

- Thanks to Dr Chan and the team of Thomson nurses especially Kristine, Roshaidah, Mdm Loke and Mdm Chong who really think for their patients and cheered me up during my stay. You ladies are the THOMSON ANGELS!!!

Through this episode, it also made me realized very clearly who are the people genuinely concerned about me and who are those that are only concerned about themselves.

I know in my hearts who they are, and will definitely remember them for their "support" during this period.

Nothing will bring me down and I will fight on for my bb's sake!!

We went to visit Dr Chan and you were really active! Dr Chan even saw you jumped and helped Mama scream ouch.. hee hee

Mama weighed 50.3kg.
You weighed 619grams.

Still very underweight =( but you are doing fine! But Mama have been eatting well and drinking milk religiously wor... don't know why just cannot put on weight. But Dr Chan and nurses reassured me that as long as you are doing fine, then there's nothing to worry about ler =)

To Wawa,

It's so amazing to feel you kicking and moving inside me! Last Sunday was the most amazing day of all when I can feel you dancing inside when we went to Po Po's house. I bet you must be very happy and high to hear all the Jie Jie playing Wii game. =)

Mama having a bad cough last week and this week wor, only started to eat antibiotics this week, hopefully can recover soon so that I can talk more to you! Recently papa have been doing the talking, did you miss my voice?

Hope June comes faster cause mama can't wait to hold you in my arms.
When you are 1st month, i will hold a party for you
When you learn how to crawl, i will guide you on your playmat
When you learn how to walk, i will get a nice walker for you!
and when you are 1 year old, mama will bring you to the zoo and see all the lovely animals!

Yay! Finally shopping can officially start!

Mummy's weight this month is 49.7kg. Just 1 kg extra. Wonder if I need to put on more...

I'm really happy that you are making yourself comfortable inside my tum tum! Told Ah Ma and Po Po about you and they were elated! Everybody was laughing at the amazingly clear Ultrasound Scans from Dr Chan.

Dr Chan is really a very detailed doctor. She was very patient in explaining and checking the organs again and again making sure they are alright. And she even explained to us, how it will look like if there's an abnormality.

Next appointment to see you is Feb 28th! About 3 weeks away.. in the meantime, mummy and daddy will miss you..

If they are good, we will take maternity photoshoot with them too. yay! mummy loves to take photos cause mummy dont have any photo when mummy was a little one. Only 1 PATHETIC baby passport photo which your ah ma dont know put where ler.. SAD RIGHT? Don't worry, you will have LOADS, HEAPS, and MOUNTAINS of photos.

And of course not to forget, we are scheduled to meet Dr Chan tomorrow too.

Braxton Hicks

Yesterday mummy experienced her first strong braxton hicks contractions.

Really made mum panicked as the whole tummy hardens while you gave 2 strong kicks inside.
But everything is normal *phew* after checking with a few friends and on the internet. But will bring this up to Dr Chan just in case as it doesnt seem to be so common to experience this kind of contractions so early.

Hope nothing is wrong...

It's been a long time since i posted an entry for wawa

Wawa is now into 19th week!
Time really flies!!

and mama now can feel light kickings of you! It's such an amazing feeling and it makes me more aware of your presence, so kick on my baby! haha

Another 2 weeks more for detailed scanning!

16th week visit

Finally mummy gained weight!

This time my weight was 48.7. An increase of 1.5 kg which Dr chan mentioned it's healthy and I'm supposed to gain 2 kg per month till I deliver.

Saw you today but you didnt open up your legs wor.. hee maybe your legs too long, Dr Chan couldnt be certain whether you are a boy or girl cos you did not wake up during the scan. Hopefully we will be able to be sure at the 20th week scan.

You are now 9.7mm from Crown to Rump.
Can see your facial features slightly too. Cant wait till June to hold you in my arms!!

We really want to be 200% sure before we start buying anything or even decorate the nursery room.

=)

Ate durians yesterday too. Yummiz! but cannot eat too often as it can get quite heaty.

OSCAR TEST

Went to TMC yesterday for the OSCAR test.

Had everything planned out, after the oscar test, we shall go shopping or maybe some movies. But baby was pretty stubborn and refused to lie on its back no matter how much we coax him.

After the 3rd time, mama was a little frustrated aredi cos mama wants to go shopping! I bet the radiographers were thinking why my bb so naughty, dont want to cooperate hee.

After that, Angelica came. She is a very patient and cute radiographer. She joked with us during the process and she took the longest time with us trying to get the baby's measurements in the best position and she helped to take the pics of baby's little hands as well.

So after everything ended, it's already 1.20pm. We went for lunch and short shopping before returning back to Dr Chan for consultation.

Dr Chan says everything is alright and I dont have to worry so much.
So relieved. I was so worried during the scan why my baby refused to turn and just lie there, and keep jumping =__=

She said that you are a tall baby. Slightly taller than the average with long hands and legs that's why the pictures are so clear.

will love you all the same whether you are tall or not. hee

Mama recovering

MaMa was down with flu and fever for the past 2 days but now recovering ler. Today got a bit of headache though.

How are you doing my baby?

Kinda worried about you, and we can only see you again in 2.5 weeks time where PaPa and MaMa will do ultrasound and blood test.

Really cant wait.

For your sake, MaMa will not be going to the Company Trip next year. Our Company have an annual trip and next year they are going to Bali! But I guess my baby (you) are more important than anything else and rest is really what i need. ^_^

We shall go Bali together when you are 1 year old!

Next time cannot sleep early. Slept at 10pm and woke up at 3am and cant fall asleep after that!

Have made an appointment for Oscar Test on 10th December. It consists of a blood test and ultrasound. Praying hard that our baby will be okay and healthy.

3 more weeks to go till 12 weeks!

2nd visit to Dr Chan

Been having bad dreams about losing you last week as my symptoms had almost disappeared from Week 8. Mummy have been waiting anxiously to go visit Dr Chan to make sure you are alright. Papa was excited to see you again as well.

Wt: 47kg

We were so happy to see you! and relieved!!!

You gave a tiny kick too to show your presence. It was an amazing kick with little legs, but it's enough to tell us that you are a strong baby!

From a little black dot, you grow into a sac within a bigger black dot and after 3 weeks (at 9 weeks now) you are fully formed at 25mm.

From uncomfy at 6-7 weeks (due to nausea), to anxiety (due to no nausea and no other symptoms), to relief! (on seeing you again)

and Dr Chan commented that you will be very tall with long legs just like Mommy, making mommy so proud of you. She is also surprised that i wasnt suffering from any nausea unless provoked and mentioned that only about 5% of the women dont suffer from any symptoms and from all the patients on Saturday, i was the only patient that said that I felt alright.

Been feeling quite well these days, infrequent nausea but the fatique kicks in at about 8pm after dinner.

Hope I'm really the lucky fews that don't get morning sickness (MS) as MS really affects your job you know.

Gets up to pee at 2am and I even dreamt that i have a miscarriage yesterday =(
it was a nightmare that i hope and pray that it will not come true.
Eats more than 6 meals a day and i keep snacking now and then as I dont eat a full lunch, maybe just 65% full and I get hungry in 2 hours! just like a baby.. hee hee

Tummy is getting bigger (dont noe is due to wind or bloatedness or the baby) since baby is only 8.5 weeks old and barely 10mm and most of my clothes, i cant really wear anymore. Think it's really time to do some serious shopping if Saturday's appointment goes well. =D

Today went to Dr Yvonne Chan and TMC's hospital tour. The rooms were beautiful but the delivery suites were abit messy.

Got this stress in the atmosphere.

I like Dr Yvonne's clinic as it's very quiet and peaceful but the nurses there spoke too softly. I think they do not want to scare the mums-to-be. They spoke so soft that I couldnt hear them sometimes.

They took mama's weight and height and blood pressure

And today Mama and Pa Pa heard your heartbeat!! it's very strong. You were so naughty, trying to hide and Dr Yvonne couldnt find you at first and we were pretty worried, but finally you came out and Dr yvonne saw you! small but strong heart beating away.

It's back to work!

Happy Deepavali!!

I feel so energetic and not nauseous anymore! My main
staple food now is bread and oats.
I seem to be able to eat these 2 things. The moment i smell food court, i
will gag.

Today mum prepared some longan soup for me and it was really nice. I love
it, and i bet baby loves it too cos it's sweet.

Feeling pretty crampy and i was getting a little worried. I just like to
think alot so i suggested to go to KK's 24 hours clinic to do an initial
scan.
That's the first time we saw our baby, still very small only a sac but my
heart was warm to know that our baby is growing at the right place

I woke up still feeling very very tired and rushed to the toilet to get the
pregnancy test kit as my menses was about 5 days late.
The previous night i still dreamt that the test result was negative.

And i knew it will turn positive as dreams are always the opposite of
reality and it did!

Woke up sleepy darren and showed him the pregnancy test kit without telling
him the result.

he just looked at the test kit, and looked at the box, and looked at the
test kit again. and he pretended to go to sleep ha!
i bet he must be very happy inside. I was both nervous but happy of course.

I told Darren that now I can enjoy the 9 months of being a 女王....but New Daddy Darren said: No No NO... you are my 女......神 !!!

Whahhahahaha

and 女神 I shall be!
